12 year old boy Kaushik Atpadkar residing at sangli came to Surana Sethia Hospital, Chembur, with prior diagnosis of hole in the heart. On evaluation by Dr Deepak Changlani, Pediatric Interventional Cardiologist, child was diagnosed to have rare congenital heart disease called severe coarctation of aorta (severe narrowing of blood vessel called aorta which carries pure blood to whole body). Incidence of coarctation of aorta is 2 per 10,000 live births. With this rare heart disease child was having easy fatigability after any activity, leg cramps, severe headache and blurring of vision. In view of having severe hypertension, BP 190/120 mm Hg of upper limb,child needed early angioplasty of aorta, which in this child was most challenging procedure due to almost complete blockage of that vessel, which if not intervened timely would have endangered his life. He underwent this rarest challenging angioplasty procedure by covered CP stent which opened up the blockage of the vessel almost completely and saved the life of a child. This procedure was successfully done by Dr Deepak Changlani and Dr Trupti Dongre Changlani, both being Pediatric Interventional Cardiologists at Surana Sethia hospital, Chembur. This procedure would have cost around 3 lakhs rupees in private hospital but was done free of cost through funds. This is the youngest child to undergo such difficult procedure in Maharashtra till date.He was discharged 48 hours post angioplasty on oral anti hypertensive medications which would be continued for sometime. He will live normal life hereafter.
My 3 years old daughter was having recurrent respiratory tract infections, not gaining weight she was just 8 kg for 3 years. She was evaluated by her treating pediatrician to have abnormal heart sound for which referred to dr Changlani and diagnosed to have large abnormal vessel outside the heart causing her problems which is called as PDA which needs to be closed. Being a girl child we were very tensed about the scar and need of surgery but dr Changlani explained in detail that they will close the vessel without any scar/ surgery. It will be closed through one needle puncture through the leg. As said it was closed with a device through angioplasty. Now post 6 months procedure she has not fallen ill , she is now 9 kg , gained 2 kg and very playful ,active. We are very pleased and thankful to both the doctors. God bless.
I have 5 months old male baby. I have 2 girls previously. I come from mumbra. My baby was diagnosed by treating pediatrician to have abnormal heart sound and referred to dr Changlani for cardiac evaluation. After evaluating doctors told my baby has one abnormal large vessel outside the heart called as PDA along with one vessel going to left lung was absent and abnormal arch on right side instead of left side. PDA was overflowing to the right lung. Inspite of technical difficulties. I went to many centers and was scared by many about the risk to my baby's life and technical difficulties but dr Changlani assured that it will be successful and help the child . I believed them and great full to dr deepakchanglani and dr trupti Dongre Changlani. For successfully closure of PDA. Now my baby is well. I wish both of them best luck for their future.
I have 3 years old daughter who was not gaining weight and she used to get tired fast. Her treating doctor diagnosed her to have abnormal heart sound and told to have some hole in the heart following which our family was very tensed. Baby was evaluated by dr Changlani and tole to have big hole in the heart called as ASD . Dr Changlani told that this hole can be closed without surgery made our life calm. She underwent keyhole procedure through the leg and big hole was closed with a device. Now 6 months has passed she is well, gaining weight , active and not getting tired . We are very thankful from bottom of our hearts to both the doctors. Words are less to express what the duo mean to us.
